5 Things You Should Do This Spring When You Stay at Our Pigeon Forge Hotel
Spring is a beautiful time in the Smokies, and there’s so much to do! You can enjoy the great outdoors and the newly blooming nature, or try out popular local attractions! Our Pigeon Forge hotel will be the perfect place to relax after your day of exploring. Keep reading to find out more about our favorite spring activities.
1. Go for a Hike
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park has over 800 miles worth of hiking trails! During the spring, if you go inside the park you’ll find newly budding trees, spring flowers, and native wildlife. Many of the hikes showcase beautiful views of the Smoky Mountains, its rivers, and historic structures. You can find hikes that vary in difficulty from easy to strenuous. You will be less that a thirty minute drive form the park when you stay in out Pigeon Forge hotel! Some of our favorite hikes include:

- Alum Cave
- Andrews Bald
- Porter’s Creek
2. Visit Dollywood
Dollywood opens back up to guests in March. The theme park is home to over 40 rides and 15 shows. There’s award winning roller coasters like the Wild Eagle, and more gentle rides like the Rockin’ Roadway, so you can find something for everyone in your group! The first celebration of their season is the Festival of Nations. The Festival of Nations is your great opportunity to experience music and food from other parts of the world.
3. Drive Through Cades Cove
Cades Cove is a great place to be in spring time! Cades Cove is an 11 mile loop that can be navigated by car, bike, or even horseback! Along the loop you will pass by primitive churches, rustic log cabins, and other historical structures like barns and a mill. You are welcome to explore all of the structures in Cades Cove. There are also hiking trails to hike up as well. The “Cove” is a great place to learn some history about East Tennessee and see some local wildlife like deer and bears! We recommend making this at least half a days trip so you can explore everything, hike if you want to, and even have a picnic in the area!
4. See a Show
Spring is the restart of the season for many attractions in the Smokies. Popular shows start to reopen and shows will get revamped for new and returning guests. One great show to see is Country Tonite. You’ll find wonderfully talented musicians, singers, and dancers. The show features singing, dancing, comedy, gospel, American patriotism, and more! Or go see the Hatfield and McCoy’s dinner show! Spend your evening watching the infamous families feud. The show is full of witty banter and jokes, and some delicious all you can eat Southern food!
5. Go Rafting
White water rafting is a fantastic spring activity! Smoky Mountain Outdoors starts offering rafting trips in March. You and your family and friends can enjoy the thrilling experience of rushing down Tennessee rivers and hitting the white waters! You’ll have raft guides with extensive experience so you will be safe, and they may even teach you some cool facts about the area and some great jokes!
